In Havana, sometimes we have problems getting drinking water within our homes. Therefore, the government occasionally helps to ease this problem with several trucks of water that we call “the water pipe”. In the Painting, there are people waiting in lines waiting their turn for water. We call these lines “colas” and these colas are common throughout Cuba, regardless of the place or service. The representations of the Granma and Juventud Rebelde newspapers in this work are included in order to indicate that the experience of waiting in line is common to all Cubans.
