This work references a government project from 2005-2006 in Cuba in which traditional lightbulbs were exchanged for LED or “saver” bulbs. The project was piloted in a few municipalities and then expanded to the entire nation with the help of students. Students were charged with going door-to-door to change each home’s lightbulbs at the expense of the State. The project exchanged an LED bulb for a traditional one if the traditional bulb was functional. At present, the Cuban government does not sell or let in from abroad any types of bulbs that are not energy-efficient like LED. The articles used within the work explain the project’s process during those years.
